Artist Bio
Lisa Stonham is a Visual Artist working across photo media, digital collage, sculpture and installation.
Within her practice she explores transitory states and actions. Lisa is interested in pictorial dichotomies, like the tension between “real” and “not real” or “constructed” and “natural”. She often works with durational execution combining photographs collected over many years into a single artwork.
Lisa’s artworks are impressionistic and ephemeral documentations of the everyday. Colour driven abstractions that engage with the temporal nature of physical space and light. They connect unrelated worlds and histories, from diverse locations across the globe, into “present moment” visual conversations.
Lisa has participated in exhibitions at the Australian Centre for Photography (Sydney), Campbelltown Arts Centre (NSW), Perth Centre for Photography, Caloundra Regional Gallery (QLD), Korean Cultural Centre (Sydney) and the Centre for Contemporary Photography (Melbourne).
She has also exhibited at the Dank Street Depot Gallery (Sydney) and has an upcoming show at M16 Artspace (Canberra) in 2021.
Lisa has been a finalist in numerous art prizes including, the Blake Prize, Iris Award, KAAF Art prize, Contemporary Landscape in Photography Award, Head-On Photography Prize, and the Ravenswood Women’s Art Prize.
This year she is a finalist in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize, the Fisher’s Ghost Award and the Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize (upcoming).
