Statement

Memories of summer's past and prospective, a vacant pontoon floats invitingly within the sub-zero conditions of Lake Wakatipu. Beneath the backdrop of the Humboldt ranges, this image aims to capture the clear, quiet and calm atmosphere experienced within the empty places of Aotearoa's Southern Otago region. Shot within the small town of Glenorchy, forty-five minutes west of Queenstown, twenty-five minutes south-east of Paradise.

Rosie Lang is an architectural graduate and analog photographer from the Whadjuk Walyalup / Fremantle area. Her photographic work primarily aims to share her experiences exploring beautifully designed and natural places during international and domestic travel, with a focus on landscape and street photography. Film primarily features as her photographic medium, and all images carry out common themes of leading lines, architectural moments and the human experience within space. Rosie's images are minimal in representation, aiming to seek out circumstances existing beyond the vernacular and every day.

Her recent collection of images were shot during a crisp and snowy fortnight exploring the southern island of Aotearoa during mid-winter, with road closures dictating a colourfully diverse route throughout the island.
