To date it has taken 998 emails for the west oz art collective, The Patti Smiths, to (nearly) get their shit together for this exhibition. A percentage of the emails establish that the members prefer Patti Smith’s human frailties and approach to life over her actual work. Whilst Patti’s name evokes New York rarefied air, it is the opposite bored and scared atmosphere of Perf that gives rise to the Patti’s. In the CoVid, climate changing Trumpocalypse the need for curation was abandoned in favour a more honest form of ‘choosing’ - free from whatever it is curator’s worry about. And it only took 1000 emails.
