'...On the 20th of October 1990, Pride Collective WA (representing the LGBTQIA+/Queer community of WA) rallied the streets of Boorloo (Perth) to advocate for human rights, equality, social inclusion, visibility, liberation, and an end to discrimination. On the 27th of November 2021, 31 years on, the WA LGBTQIA+ community continued the Pride Collective march toward greater community visibility despite the COVID 19 pandemic reducing queer voices to spaces with minimal exposure.

The intersection of modern arts and LGBTQIA+ advocacy is a cornucopia of engagement opportunities for a community that has been historically marginalised, discriminated against, and misunderstood. Queer folk have long utilised art spaces to celebrate, liberate, and validate their bodies, identities, experiences, and their existence.

For thirty years, the Perth Centre for Photography has proudly fostered and sustained a diverse and inclusive culture at the forefront of its ideology and values. Honouring this, PCP has continued to flourish as an organisation that welcomes, celebrates, supports, and collaborates with members of the LGBTQIA+ community.'
