I want to share my story about growing up in the diaspora and the lack of diversity in my community, particularly the arts community. Initially, I wanted to build friendships with African women in Australia who shared the same life experiences as me, however, representing them through photography has since become a vital role in my life. I aim to capture people in a way that is raw and unedited.
Over the past year, Chiluba Young - also known as Bushwilloww - has continued to push the #blackgirlsonfilm movement. Her work explores the beauty in being a black woman. The lack of diversity and representation of black women in the media continues to be her creative motivator. She’s also the creative director and content contributor of Soul Alphabet.
