On a camping trip to Central Australia, I was attracted, at the end of the day, to the quality of light that was bathing the camp site, and to the mundane sight of a repetition of drying socks.
Catherine Cloran is a Sydney-born visual artist/photographer living on the Mid North Coast of NSW. She graduated from the National Art School (Painting Diploma), University of Western Sydney (BA Fine Arts Hons) and Monash University (MA Visual Arts.) She has exhibited in solo and group shows in Hong Kong, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and undertaken residencies in Beijing and Japan.
She won the NSW Parliament Landscape Photography Prize in 2015, and has been shortlisted in several photography art prizes including, the Head On Landscape Prize and the PCP Clip Award.
Recent solo exhibitions include, Confluence at Adelaide Perry Gallery, Croydon NSW in May 2021 and Passaggio, at Barometer Gallery, Paddington in May 2018. She was also represented by Arthere at Sydney Contemporary at Carriageworks in September 2018.
