Statement
Thuy Vy is a Director and Photographer.
Thuy’s Photographic Portraits and Documentary Series have been widely awarded and exhibited internationally.
His Film works have been selected and screened at prestigious international awards.
He won the Head On Photographic Portrait Prize in 2007.
His portrait of the acclaimed performer David Gulpilil is a finalist in the 2019 Martin Kantor Portrait Prize in the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. The portrait is also one of top 50 entries selected for the Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards, Palm Photo Award in London.
For film works Thuy has shot commercial projects in LA, Miami, New York, Santiago, Houston, London, Hamburg, Ho Chi Minh City, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Guang Zhou, Singapore, NZ and all around Australia.
In 2018 his short film script “Still Life” was chosen as one of the Fabulous Four for ADFEST, it went on to win the Audience Award. The film was later shortlisted for the Young Director Award in Cannes.
The following year his work Longitude Latitude Solitude was Finalist in the ADFEST Film Craft Cinematography.
