Statement
This image was taken using a long exposure, lit only by a single torch. This results in hard shadows bringing out the depth in the rock face. It also warms the image with a nice grain.
The model is entwined in a large tree root, perhaps suggesting humanity's innate dependence on the landscape.
Michel has spent over 20 years performing as a magician and aerialist. With the reduced performance opportunities during the COVID shutdowns he began exploring photography. Working mainly in the medium of self-portraiture he began by focusing on the vulnerable masculine before expanding in nudes in landscapes.
