I see you is a part of an ongoing photographic project/series taken of rocks. Mare let every rock come to life by giving them their own unique character and language. Through the series, she is creating a new world that can feel alienating and spiritual. This project is a combination of photographs combined with poetry and will come together in the form of a Zine. Shot with Olympus OM1_ Kodak Portra 400.
Mare Elzinga is a contemporary photographer currently based in Perth. She grew up in The Netherlands where she built the foundation of her creativity. After graduating school in the Netherlands she left to live in Sweden for a year. She completed one year of study at an Art school in Stockholm specializing in a broad range of disciplines from forging to theatre. Mare moved back to Utrecht (The Netherlands) after successfully entering The University of Arts Utrecht (HKU) to commence studying a Bachelor of Design, specialising in Photography. Mare completed the first two years of her degree, developing a main interest in surrealistic, poetic work. During a break Mare came to Perth to follow her inquisitive urge to understand and see more of the world. Being inspired by Perth’s arts scene, she decided to stay and defer her degree to independently grow and position herself as an artist. Since settling in Perth she has been developing as an artist following her interest in nature, authenticity, poetry and abstraction through the multiple disciplines of photography, film, collage and poetry.
