Statement
A mining lease, between Cue and Sandstone. It’s pretty weird driving through all this bush which is basically just mining lease after mining lease. Great big signs dictating who owns what – big patches of dirt which might have something valuable in them. It’s destroying the bush though. With little scrub or vegetation, dust and dirt fly through the air when the wind picks up and trails for hundreds of metres between trucks, graders and the all too common caravan.
Artist Bio
Duncan Wright is a Fremantle based photographer and director. He studied under Max Pam and Kevin Ballantine at Edith Cowan University before moving to the Vahland Academy of Fine Arts in Gothenburg, Sweden to finish his degree. Whilst working commercially, Duncan also has an arts practice which sees his photographic based work fall somewhere between a documentary, conceptual and commercial approach. Duncan has exhibited nationally and internationally and his work is held in various private collections. His first solo exhibition is opening on the 11th of December 2020 at the Perth Centre for Photography.
